Psst, there is a beach recommendation extra.
Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Hawaii
You'll find this stunning black sand beach on the Big Island. On top of that, you might see turtles enjoying the sun.Tip: Bring your water shoes as it can get quite rocky when you go to the water. Punalu'u is also close to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which is definitely worth a visit. Have you ever been to a black sand beach?
Waimea Bay Beach Park, Oahu
Waimea Bay, on the north shore of the island of Oahu, is the place for you if you're a surfer who likes big waves. In winter you can watch huge waves and admire the professional surfers on this world-famous beach. If you're lucky, there'll even be a surfing competition where you'll see some breathtaking moves or surf yourself.
Waikiki Beach, O'ahu
Waikiki Beach is probably one of the most famous beaches in Hawaii and an absolute highlight on Oʻahu. With its golden sands, turquoise waters and the iconic backdrop of Diamond Head as a backdrop, Waikiki offers the perfect blend of tropical beauty and urban surroundings. The beach stretches for around three kilometers and is ideal for activities such as surfing, snorkeling or simply sunbathing. With numerous hotels, restaurants and shops nearby, Waikiki Beach is also a hotspot for entertainment and nightlife. Whether you want to ride the waves or relax and enjoy the sunsets - this beach has something to offer for everyone.
Polihua Beach, Lanai
Would you like to take a romantic and private walk on the beach? Then Polihua Beach is just right for you. However, it is not a place for swimming due to strong currents, but you can see green sea turtles all year round and even humpback whales in the winter months.
Kaihalulu Red Beach, Maui
You'll find this dramatic and hidden cove on the east coast of Maui. It is not easy to get there as it requires a steep and narrow hiking trail for which you need sturdy shoes. The crescent-shaped Kaihalulu Beach is unique with its dark red sand sourced from the Ka'uiki Head cinder cone and rusty-red lava cinder cliffs that contrast surreally with the bright blue sea. You will remember this beach for the rest of your life.
Beaches on Kauai
Hanalei Bay
Get your camera ready because Hanalei Bay will steal your heart with its turquoise waters and emerald green mountains in the background. Hanalei Bay is located along Kauai's north shore, also known as Garden Island for its lush tropical rainforests stretching over waterfalls and verdant valleys. Hanalei Bay is perfect for swimming in the summer when the water is calm.

Tunnels Beach
Tunnels Beach, also known as Makua Beach, is one of the best spots for snorkeling and diving on Kauai's North Shore. The crescent-shaped bay with golden sand is framed by palm trees and green mountains and is a perfect photo opportunity. It is spectacular for underwater adventures as there are underwater lava tubes that form underwater caves and provide a breathtaking underwater world.
