10 Ways to Save Endangered Animals
Share
Aloha everyone! Love the new Endangered Animals Collection and wondering how you can help? Don't worry, I have everything you need.
Today I'm going to talk to you about a topic that's very close to my heart: How we can all help save endangered species - You may have even helped wild animals in the past without realizing it. Maybe you already know these 10 easy ways and are just here for a little motivation... Either way, I'm glad you're here.
So, these are my TOP 10 simple measures that you can take right now:
REDUCE AND REUSE
Ensure you produce less waste that cannot be recycled and ends up in landfills (and ultimately ecosystems) and make waste reduction a priority. The less waste we produce, the less harm it does to our environment.
RECYCLE
I know this can be really hard, so make sure if you produce waste, dispose of it properly. The good thing about it: responsible waste disposal is actually really easy. If you would like to learn more about the impact of our actions on issues like ocean plastic, click here to learn more.
ORGANIZE CLEANUP ACTIONS
This may sound a bit cliché, I have to admit, but it's fun, you don't have to prepare much and you'll feel so good after participating in or organizing a cleanup. I stopped collecting shells on the beach a long time ago and instead collect plastic from the ocean, and I can assure you that you will be proud of yourself! It's also a fun way to teach children.
CREATE AND MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BACKYARD OR BALCONY HABITAT
It is crucial to support native plants as they provide the best environment for native wildlife. Unfortunately, the list of endangered animals is long, and you might even find a species of insect or bird that you haven't heard of but that you can save from extinction.
REDUCE CONSUMPTION OF MEAT, EGGS AND DAIRY PRODUCTS
Animal farming has immense impacts on water use, pollution and deforestation, and there is more and more about it in the news (I say one word: Amazon). We obviously depend primarily on governments for laws, policies and clear goals and targets on climate change, but we can influence supply by influencing demand. And we can...
GO SELECT
I mean, we all know that we humans are driving countless species to extinction, and it bothers us. But why is it that this fact is not one of the most important concerns of voters during elections?
Our communities, our politics, our economies depend on the health of the natural world in which we live. We depend on your health. It's time to not just be sad, but to actually act on it. So voting definitely deserves a place on my list of 10 ways to save endangered animals.
Vote with the environment in mind, vote with endangered animals in mind. Whether local, provincial or national, give them your voice, your voice is theirs and their voice is also yours! Ask yourself what endangered animals would choose if they could. You can even join a political party that supports animal welfare and/or helps combat the effects of climate change.
DRIVE SLOWLY
Always be on the lookout for wild animals, whether threatened or not.
IIDENTIFY AND AVOID
Make sure you don't buy products made from endangered species! We all know not to buy ivory, but turtle shells or coral could also be part of the souvenir you want to bring back from your vacation for a loved one. Did you know that more than 20 endangered coral species are threatened, and some are even endangered?
Educate yourself further
And...
SPREAD THE MESSAGE
