What is Pride?
Pride, also known as LGBTQIA+ Pride, celebrates the diversity and acceptance of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities and aims to confidently express this politically or culturally. The Pride movement has become a global symbol of resistance against oppression and for equality.
LGBTQIA+ is a composition of first letters of English wordsLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual/Transgender, Queer,Intersexual andAsexual. So it is an abbreviation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual/transgender, queer, intersex and asexual people. The plus + stands for all other gender identities.
During Pride Month, which traditionally takes place in June, parades, festivals and events are organized around the world. The events are for all people who want to show their identity openly and proudly, express solidarity and raise awareness of the challenges and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride is a time to celebrate love in all its forms and a call for everyone to have the right to live freely and without fear.

PURELEI celebrates Pride
We at PURELEI also celebrate Pride Month every year with full energy and warmth! We show our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community through events, collaborations and our jewelry collections to create more awareness of the topic. For example, in 2023 we were represented together with SNOCKS on our own PURELEI x SNOCKS car at the CSD in Cologne. To match this, we launched the Mahina Club Rainbow Edition with pieces of jewelry decorated with colorful beads in rainbow colors and a rainbow pendant. It's important to us to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and support their visibility becausewe want to spread the message of love, equality and acceptance widely.
This year we are also going to the Summer Pride Festival in Cologne. Follow us on Instagram and don't miss any of our posts and stories about this event.
Top tip: On July 13th we are launching the new jewelry collaboration Rainbow Love with the creator couple Ina & Vanessa from Coupleontour.

Flags
Flags play an important role in the Pride movement because they represent the diversity and uniqueness of the different identities within the LGBTQ+ community. Here are some of the most famous Pride flags and their meanings:
Rainbow flag
The rainbow flag is the most famous symbol of the LGBTQ+ community. Designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978, it consists of six colors that symbolize different aspects of the community:
- Red stands for life,
- Orange for healing,
- Yellow for sunlight,
- Green for nature,
- Blue for harmony,
- Purple for spirit.
Transgender flag
The transgender flag was designed by Monica Helms in 1999. It consists of five stripes: two light blue, two pink and a white stripe in the middle.
- Light blue represents the traditional color for boys,
- Pink represents the traditional color for girls,
- White symbolizes those who are non-binary or in gender transition.
Bisexual flag
The bisexual flag was introduced by Michael Page in 1998. It consists of three horizontal stripes:
- Magenta represents same-sex attraction,
- Blue represents heterosexual attraction,
- Purple symbolizes attraction to both genders.
Asexual flag
The asexual flag was developed in 2010 by the Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN) community. It consists of four horizontal stripes:
- Black stands for asexuality,
- Gray symbolizes demisexuality and graysexuality,
- White represents the non-asexual partners and allies,
- Purple stands for community.
Pansexual flag
The pansexual flag has three horizontal stripes:
- Pink represents attraction to women,
- Yellow symbolizes attraction to non-binary people,
- Blue represents attraction to men.

Pride is more than just a celebration - it is a movement for equality, acceptance and love. It is a time to celebrate the progress we have made and to continue fighting for the rights and well-being of all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Every kind of love deserves respect and recognition, and every Pride flag tells a story of courage and community.Let's continue to celebrate diversity together so that everyone can be proud of who they are and we can make the world a little more colorful! 🌈✨
